Danii Takes Tabletop Fiesta 2023

Tabletop Fiesta is a 2 day event filled with unplugged, social gaming featuring tabletop games. of all things tabletop gaming organized by both RECCon and Fiddl. They partnered with Ayala Malls Central Bloc, Neutral Grounds Philippines, Jonie's Sizzlers & Roast - Official, Krumble Inc., Big Blue Logistics Corporation, and the Association of Cebu Hobbyist Organizers. and it took place on October 14-15 at the Ayala Malls Central Bloc Activity Center.

As for the games, the first day had HEIST! A Modern Bank Robbery RPG of Cops VS Robbers for 10 Players at 10:00 PM (this was one I really wanted to play, but I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to arrive on time). The second day was filled with tables of Assault on Star Dock A Multi-Table D&D 5e Epic Adventure players - which started at 1:00 PM and ended at 7:00 PM. It also had all-day games of Two Rooms and A Boom by Alan Gerding & Sean McCoy. Both days were filled with tables for Dungeons & Dragons, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Star Wars: Shatterpoint, Conquest, Gubat Banawa, and Battletech.

Pulled up to Tabletop Fiesta with make-up like the love of my life: Victoria De Angelis of Måneskin; and a fit inspired by Sasha Braus from the A Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of Adolescence OVA.

Sadly, I misplaced my Sasha wig a couple of years ago and had to make do with whatever I thought worked best (not just because it was the closest to Vic's hair color...). To keep myself from looking too much like a Bar Maiden, I decided to add elf ears and the same bag I used for ReCCon 2019. It was giving ✨ wood elf vibes ✨

I got to play a homegrown Filipino-made tabletop roleplaying game called Gubat Banawa. I was impressed with the variety of options you have in terms of character creation (although we just rolled for most of ours due to the time crunch) as well as the flexible battle mechanics.

Proud to say that my Flower Necromancer (a class I chose given the Poison Ivy vibe I got from the other personality traits that were rolled) got the killing blow during the boss fight!

Initially wasn't planning on dressing up for Day 2 of Tabletop Fiesta but due to the multitude of compliments given to me during the first day I decided to mix and match pieces I got for other DnD OCs for today's outfit.

When my dad saw me without the cape he said I looked a Pirate. Then as we left he made a Game of Thrones reference (Hodor/Hold the Door) which got my ADHD brain to remember not to leave my Valyrian steel dagger, one of the only few props I own that gave Fantasy vibes, and I got called out for it by one of my friends later on during the event. I was going to look more like a Rogue but, as long as the overall fit has elements of a TTRPG character, I'm alright with that!

I didn't get to play any games on the 2nd Day of Tabletop Fiesta, but it was fun to watch all the games that were run as well as both interacting and getting to know the local TTRPG scene/community while also reuniting with some friends I hadn't seen in a while.
